There is one week in November when the entire Latin world converges on Mallorca. The championship is on the Saturday. Almost everything that decides it happens before.
For three days in Calvià you train with the coaches who built the finalists — world champions, world finalists, and the teachers standing behind them — in one building, on one floor, with the Mediterranean outside the window.
Not every one of them wore the medal.
All of them have put it on somebody else.
That is the whole idea. This is where champions are made — and then you walk out of this room and onto the World Championship floor.
